The eThekwini Municipality says it has resolved the issues that have caused disruptions to refuse collection in parts of the city.
Refuse collection services resumed on Tuesday after the municipality resolved contractual issues which lead to the disruption in the first place.
The situation escalated last week when enraged waste contractors dumped rubbish on the N2 highway near Isipingo south of Durban.
“The contractual issues that affected refuse removal have been resolved and the normal refuse removal activities will be commencing. The City is working around the clock to clear the backlog which was caused by the service interruption,” the city said in a statement.
The City apologised for the inconvenience caused.
